Aviator Lacrosse Club completed our initial summer program this past weekend at the NXT Grand Prix competing against teams from Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, and Colorado.
Aviator’s High School team competed in a blended 2025 bracket with several elite teams from the Midwest. The team finished the tournament in 5th place with a 1-3 record. The High School team finished 7-3 overall for the summer including a winning the championship at the Clash in Canton.
Aviator’s Back team competed in the 2027B division finishing the NXT with a 1-3 record in pool play but did not advance to bracket play. The Black team finished the summer with a 4-6 record including finishing 2nd at the Clash in Canton.
Aviator’s Gold team competed in the 2028B division finishing the NXT in 6th place with a 0-4 record. The Gold team substantially improved in the NXT Grand Prix from the Clash in Canton.
Aviator's coaches and I are proud of the effort our players put in this summer in practices and the heart they showed during our two tournaments, and we all believe our players improved their skills and lacrosse knowledge this summer.
Future Plans for Aviator Lacrosse Club (Fall 2023/Winter 2023-24/Summer 2024 Programs)
In our first year, Aviator Lacrosse Club grew substantially with free clinics last fall at Walsh University, indoor clinics over the winter, and our first summer program with three teams and 65 players. We are going to take some time to evaluate the path going forward.
In the next few days, we are going to send a survey to our players and parents to evaluate our summer 2023 performance and solicit parents/players thoughts on our format, coaches, facilities, and team communications.
Aviator's plans going forward include:
Summer 2024 Tryouts: Aviator plans to invite our Summer 2023 players back for our Summer 2024 program, and to hold Summer 2024 team tryouts for new players later this fall and next spring, once we've had the time to evaluate your feedback from our surveys. Other Northeast Ohio clubs will have tryouts for their Summer 2024 teams in coming weeks and we understand our players may wish to tryout or join another club team for next summer.
Fall 2023 Program: Aviator is working to develop a Fall 2023 program to include to a series of Sunday practices and at least one tournament. We support multi-sport athletes and our schedule will be set to not conflict with organized school sports.
Winter 2023-2024 Program: Aviator is working to schedule indoor clinics from December 2023 to February 2024. These indoor clinics will focus on individual positions, skills, and technique. We are also looking for competitive opportunities for our players.
